Dr Matthew Corcoran

Founder and CEO of Diabetes Training Camp, a unique clinical resource entirely devoted to diabetes wellness, fitness and sports. Corcoran also owns his own consulting company and has counseled amateur, collegiate, and elite athletes with diabetes. He has been invited to speak nationally on diabetes, exercise and sport, and previously worked as an adjunct faculty member with the world-renowned Cooper Institute in Dallas, Texas. Additional experience in national leadership roles include serving on the research and writing committee for the National Athletic Trainer Association’s Position Stand on working with the Athlete with Type 1 Diabetes and the American Diabetes Association’s Council on Exercise.

Dr. Corcoran is board-certified in Diabetes, Endocrinology and Metabolism and is a certified diabetes educator, as well as an exercise specialist through the American College of Sports Medicine. Currently, he is serving as Medical Director with the Joslin Diabetes Center Affiliate at Atlanticare in Egg Harbor Township, NJ.

Corcoran earned his undergraduate degree from Boston College and his medical degree from Georgetown University School of Medicine before moving to the University of Chicago Hospitals and completing his internship and residency in internal medicine, and fellowship in Diabetes, Endocrinology & Metabolism. He subsequently joined the University of Chicago’s Department of Medicine as an Assistant Professor, directing the endocrinology clinic, diabetes education program and the insulin pump/continuous glucose monitoring clinic. Following his work in academic medicine, Corcoran has worked in both private practice and for large regional medical centers in the Mid-Atlantic states.

An athlete himself, Dr. Corcoran is a gifted speaker and teacher committed to advocacy for people with diabetes. He and his wife Jody, and their son Brennan, currently call Margate City, New Jersey home and love spending time together being active outdoors, or visiting with their family and friends.
